Happy Independence Day & How to Help Military Families

Fire up the grill. Light off the fireworks. Here’s to hoping you’re having a great 4th of July with friends and family.

Above all else, your friends and neighbors at Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air want you to have a safe holiday celebration. Many of you will be spending time in or near the water. Please educate yourself about the dangers of electric shock drowning.

Already this year it has claimed at least two lives in our great state. If you have electrical service on a boat dock or any swimming area, make sure it has been inspected by a professional electrician in the last year. If not, call Dixie now to schedule it.

If you’re visiting a resort or someone else’s home, please use caution. The danger is real and there are no warning signs. Learn how to protect yourself and what to do if it happens to you or someone you’re with.

Dixie also asks you to take some time to remember what the day means. On July 4, 1776, 241 years ago, a group of brave rebels met in Philadelphia and passed the Declaration of Independence. With the vote, the dye was cast as the United States laid its claim to being a free and independent nation.

On this patriotic holiday, put all of the political bickering aside and remember the most famous words on that revolutionary document:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

As we honor our country, let’s also honor the men and women who serve it in our military. Dixie is donating a portion of all our proceeds until the end of July to the organization Folds of Honor. It’s a foundation formed 10 years ago to provide scholarships to family members of military personnel killed or severely wounded in the service of America.
